From Farmers Markets to a Brick and Mortar:
Sunny Side Kitchen initially operated at North County Farmers Markets, then expanded to various North County breweries. In 2015, they established their current location at 155 S. Orange Street in Escondido.
Focus on Fresh, Local Ingredients:
The restaurant emphasizes fresh, local ingredients, including artisan bread from Bread & Cie and other locally sourced items. They are known for their made-to-order paninis, salads, crust less quiche, homemade soups, and a variety of other dishes.
National Recognition:
Sunny Side Kitchen's commitment to quality and personalized service has earned them national recognition, including being ranked among the top 100 restaurants in the nation three times (with a #3 overall nod in 2024). This recognition significantly boosted their business and solidified their position in the community.
Community Focus:
Despite the national recognition, the owners have emphasized their commitment to staying in their current location, even commissioning a mural to express their love for their cozy spot. They are also known for their personalized service and community involvement. 2025 marked their 10th year on Orange Street.
